I have been successfully using Dabdig 2.54 with a DEC200t for some time. I am now looking to add/replace the DEC2000t with a Nebula PCI card. This will get over my problem of mains failures whilst I am away... the DEC which is a USB device needs to be switch on by remote after a mains failure, whilst a PCI device should power up as PC repowers. My questions are as follows; with v3.5 DigiTV can dabdig initiate a seamles record of 2 independent but ovelapping programmes on diffrent channels but on the same multiplex? Secondly if this is not possible with device steering can the Nebula co-exist with the DEC2000t in the same machine to achieve the same (or more!) Finally will Dabdig be able to interface with thew new dual tuner DigiTV? Thread moved from FAQ to Multi-Device Edited by Paul Webster on Thursday, November 10, 2005 - 3:30:29 AM

Quick answer is ... Yes However, we need the upcoming Nebula 3.5.11 to really work to get some of what you want. .3.5.10 has some bugs with its timer handling so does not really work well with DABDig. You can mix the devices but DABDig acts without intelligence right now so you have to choose which one to use when you schedule. The newer Nebula software will manage conflicts itself ... i.e. DABDig's lack of intelligence will not be a hinderance. To mix the different devices you will have to make 2 small edits to dabdig.ini plus renumber the channels ... e.g. BBC One would become NEB-1,DVB-1 in the dabdig.ini you would modify the existing fields with something like: NebulaDigiTVDevName=NEB Paul Webster DABDig creator Edited by Paul Webster on Sunday, November 06, 2005 - 3:20:17 PM

Paul than you for your prompt reply. I am however still struggling with device steering. On my previous configuration which has been working with the DEC2000t, I modified the dabdig marker to remove the listen option, and also enabled the record array to give me the additional padding (to handling recording of following programme. With the mods you suggest, I have updated the dabdig ini to include NebulaDigiTVDevName=NEB DefaultDevice=NEB UseNebulaDigiTV=1 I have renumbered a test channel in the digiguide channel details to be NEB-1,DVB-1 but it now only seems to record on the Nebula tuner. I was expecting to see a flyout option when I right click in digiguide to allow me to manually schedule to either device...? Could you please offer any pointers for me to persue. p.s I have now re-instated original dabdig.marker with no edits.. but results are the same. trace=4 give following info 08/11/2005 22:51:08 - 2.54b09 - Trace:1 - "RECORD" "NEB-1,DVB-1" "32" "Without a Trace" "2005" "11" "08" "22" "00" "60+2" "Party Girl. Her badly beaten limousine driver recounts how the limo was ambushed and Chelsea was taken. The kidnappers create a website poll encouraging people to vote on whether Chelsea should live or die. The team begins its investigation while entertaining the idea that Chelsea may have orchestrated the kidnapping to obtain publicity. The preliminary suspects include the married owner of several popular Manhattan clubs who was enraged when he learned that Chelsea secretly made a sex tape of them together. Also, a dishevelled young man had interrupted one of Chelsea's recent book signings, ranting that his sister killed herself because Chelsea ignored the girl's fan letters. Suspicions arise when the investigators discover the heiress begged her business manager for $100,000 a month ago. The pressure really mounts when the majority of poll participants vote for Chelsea to die. But Gene's lifestyle - and teaching style - are worlds apart from the school way of life; are the pupils ready for Mr Simmons and his unorthodox methods? It looks like you have changed the channel NAME in DigiGuide rather than the channel NUMBER. The name should be left untouched (e.g. BBC One) but the number should be changed as above. It is the comma in the number that will make the marker script prompt you for the device. You will then see that the syntax that it sends to DABDig will have been changed to something like ... DVB+DVB-1,NEB-1 DABDig then parses that to see that there are 2 available devices and that DVB should be taken. Paul Webster DABDig creator

Paul, Thanl you for the pointers, I appologise for being so simple. After your suggestion things now are starting to make sense. One further question, I vaguely remember seeing somewhere that you could have maybe have different record icons for each device, is this possible, if so could you point me at the correspondence. I am very excited about getting this to work, thank you so much for your efforts. p.s. Do you have any inside knowledge on release date of v3,5 DigiTV and will your next release of v2.55 dabdig be tarketing this?

Icons first. Undocumented - but works ... edit the DABDig.dgmarker and change change all blnUseDeviceIcons = false; to blnUseDeviceIcons = true; (you will 2 in your copy - but I have 3 in my unreleased copy) It will then set the icon names (for new marker instances) to: DABDigRdevname.ico where devname is whatever you selected - so in your case DABDigRDVB.ico or DABDigRNEB.ico You should find that I already ship a few icons ... including DABDigRDVB you could rename DABDigRSAT to DABDigRNEB while you work on your own. Even if not "right" it will help you tell them apart. Then restart DigiGuide (or double-click on the DABDig.dgmarker icon). Don't forget to back up your changes so that you can work out what you did to restore them when a new DABDig comes out. Hopefully this sort of change will be done from the DigiGuide GUI with DG 8.3 As for the next Nebula software - I don't have any inside knowledge I'm sorry to say. I would expect it before Christmas. The (theoretical) good news is that it will not need any changes to DABDig. See their changelog - DABDig gets a mention sbout 10 entries down. Paul Webster DABDig creator
