Hi Paul, I may be a little premature with this post but I'm noticing an issue with the very latest DigiTV version, 3.12.7 (Release), seemingly out today (or at least that's when DigiTV told me there was an update available). This release has the capability to create recordings in DVD-compatible MPEG2 format so I'm keen to keep using it. The issue I believe I'm seeing is one where Dabdig triggers the recording ok but DigiTV then seems to exit. A manual restart of DigiTV then launches it straight into record mode, but having missed the start of the recording. It's almost like the issue you note in the FAQ re. DigiSvc but I'm seemingly running Dabdig 2.44b15 (read from dabdig.ini) so that shouldn't be a problem right? Grateful for your thoughts. Cheers, Matt |

I moved to 3.12.7 yesterday as well (and had been using the various Beta builds). I don't think it is DABDig that is causing the problem - I have been able to repeat it using just DigiTV. Channel "five" in particular is a problem - since they changed how they broadcast on 8th (I think it was). I have just turned off recording in DVD-ready format - because I had been getting a few silent crashes. What I am thinking of doing is putting some code in place that zaps the setting (on/off) depending on the channel chosen (e.g. turn it off just before recording from "five" and perhaps others - i.e. configurable) and turn it back on again before recording from others. Ok, thanks. Glad I wasn't having a mad moment! If I can help, let me know. Cheers, Matt |

Nebula just let me know that they think that they have a fix for the "five" problem and plan to release it as an auto-update in next couple of days. I'll hold off doing my suggested change above for a while - it would be messy and if their fix resolves things then it would not be needed. Meanwhile - I suggest ... be prepared for annoying glitches - or perhaps turn of DVD-Authoring mode for a while. If your problem was a TV channel other than "five" then it might be another problem and would be worth reporting to them. Even on "five" it sometimes works. I used their software (i.e. scheduled form their GUI) to record a 30 minute show and it went for 25 minutes before going down. Paul WebsterDABDig creator |

Hi Paul, I've been doing some more experiments with my setup and found that some recordings that worked ok when scheduled in the DigiTV PVR were ok but would fail if scheduled from Digiguide. I've therefore just upgraded my dabdig to the latest on your site: v2.51b20. First impressions are that it seems to be working ok now. Dabdig reported just one issue when upgrading my .ini file: it complained that NEBULADIGITVREGBIN=1 was unrecognised and so removed it. I don't know if that's significant or not. Anyway, I'll be using it a lot over xmas so I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers, Matt |

OK. I have a 2.52 here (i.e. not uploaded yet) that includes a few extra things - one of which is for the new Nebula software (to do with changing channels for live viewing). I'm happy to send it to you - but it should not have any effect on recording. I suggest that you stick with what you have for Christmas. Regarding the wanring about the field in the INI file - it is not a problem. I removed the field because it was not needed since version 2 of the DigiTV software. Paul WebsterDABDig creator |

Thanks for the offer, but v2.51b20 seems to be working fine (incidentally, no signs of that Channel Five issue but I'll keep an eye out for it). As you mentioned above, however, the DigiTV support for DVD-MPEG mode is unfortunately still pretty ropey (on my system at least). The various players I've tried only seem to playback the recorded MPGs with jittery, unlistenable sound or weird speed issues on the video. I'm posting this mainly for the benefit of others who might be playing with the new version over xmas - I'm aware it's not a dabdig issue I'll give some feedback to Nebula on my experience. Happy xmas, etc. |
