Couple of pointers ... first off ... DABDig can be configured to instruct the Leadtek WinFast software to record in different formats by setting LeadtekTVTypeToCompress if you want the same default format for all recordings and you can override from the command line (getting to the command line is easy from DigiGuide or your own scripts). I don't think that the Leadtek software will finish the process and burn the DVD .. but you could initiate re-encoding of the recorded data by using the PostProcess function of DABDig to call a batch file of your own (and it can pass in a wide variety of parameters to make this do-able). I have just tried Winfast's direct burn function and it will do multiple writes to a dvd and closes the dvd when the program exits. Is there a way of stopping DABDig from exiting winfast so multiple writes can be don to dvd or will I have to write to HD first then write to dvd later Billy Gregor

I presume this means multiple programmes rather than multiple chunks of the same show.
LeadtekShutdownGUIAfterProgramme gives you control over whether I shut it down at the end of a recording. However, the problem is that it only reads the schedule data from its file on startup. So - if you don't let DABDig close the Leadtek software when it is putting a new event into its list then you will probably find that the recording is missed (play with LeadtekAllowForceExit to see what happens). Experiment with just writing to HD for now though .. because failures might be expensive on DVD media. A possible alternative (might work but you have less control) is to configure DABDig with UseTVPI=1 (and UseLeadtek=0). See the dabdig.htm for more on that. Paul Webster DABDig creator

Paul, I am sorry but everything is working well apart from changing the LeadtekTVTypeToCompress switch. All I get is M1N format even when I change it to something else. Can you help. Thanks Billy Gregor

The LeadtekTypeToCompress field is a list of the available types in the Leadtek software. The idea is that you leave it unchanged (at least the ones at the start of the list) but you change the DefaultExtension field to be the same as the appropriate acronym in the LeadtekTypeToCompress field. Essentially what happens in the more modern Leadtek software is that it stores the compression type as a number. From memory ... 0 is M1N. In the Leadtek GUI - get the drop-down list that shows the different types and then compare it with the list in the dabdig.ini You will probably see that the first few are essentially the same. The last few will be different. The order and sequence is 100% significant. So - if DVD Direct Burn is the 9th on the list in the Leadtek GUI then you can select it from DABDig by making DefaultExtension the same as the 9th in the list in LeadtekTypeToCompress. (in older versions of the Leadtek software the 3-letter acronym was used directly in the Leadtek software - so the actual letters used were important ... that is not the case with their newer software) If you are using DigiGuide to drive DABDig then you can easily select the compression type per recording. See also this thread - essentially the same question. Paul Webster DABDig creator Edited by Paul Webster on Monday, October 18, 2004 - 3:19:16 PM
