For those wishing to choose svhs or composite as the inputs with dabdig you need to adjust the ini ATIMMCDEVNAME=TV ATIMMCSAVETO=C:\My Music ATIMMCQUALITY=1 ATIMMCSOURCE=S-Video ATIMMCPATH=C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\main ATIMMCFLAGS=3 ATIMMCNUMOFSLOTS=50 ATIMMCALLOWFORCEEXITONVIEW=1 ATIMMCALLOWFORCEEXITONRECORDEND=0 ATIMMCWAKEUPTASK= ATIMMCWAKEUPTASKPATH= ATIMMCWAKEUPTASKPARAMS= ATIMMCFILENAMEHANDLING=0 ATIMMCEXTRAINFO=1 The important lines are ATIMMCEXTRAINFO=1 and ATIMMCSOURCE=S-Video. (replace with 'Composite' both are case sensitive) Extrainfo forces dabdig to write to the reg the correct data for colour etc that the schedule requires to work properly, it doesnn't do this as default like it does with the Tuner. ATIMMCFLAGS=3 uses the inbuilt autoclose of MMC after schedule has finished (MMC 8.x and 9.x)

Thanks for that clarification. I do intend to extend it though so that you can select from the command line (e.g. marker in DigiGuide) which source to record from (i.e. ability to override the ini setting). I do this already for the Leadtek device and will implement in a similar way. This will allow users with a working TV Tuner and an external source to choose the appropriate one. It gets a bit more complicated if DABDig also has to change channels on the external box - but not impossible. Paul Webster DABDig creator

I see that Dabdig has now been upgraded to include the ability to select the record source to Composite or S-Video with ATIs MMC (great news). The Faq reads: "How can I record from the ATi S-Video or Composite connection? Experimental for now ... but try setting the channel "number" as something like 1/SVideo or 1/Composite". I'm using Digiguide 8.1 with terestrial channels and MMC 9.02. My Channel 4 reception is better if I view/record it via my VCR (which is connected through my All In Wonder Radeon 8500DVs Composite in). If I leave my VCR set to channel 4, how do I select to record a program from within Digiguide using the composite input? Currently when I right click on the program the only options I get are the same as in previous versions. I'm unsure whats meant by "setting the channel "number" as something like 1/SVideo or 1/Composite" - how do I do this - is it within Digiguide or does it mean I must edit the ini file each time? Specific, easy to understand instructions would be much appreciated - thanks in anticipation!

There are 2 ways to do this.
Right-click on the channel icon and choose "Change channel details...". Then in the first box put in 1/Composite (the number itself is ignored - so you might like to put in 4/Composite just to remind you what it is) You could create a dabdig.map and put in it [ATiMMC] If you had a device that could send infrared signals to your VCR ... then DABDig could probably change the channel for you as well. See the section in dabdig.htm about "ExternalChannelChanger". Paul Webster DABDig creator

Thanks for the swift, simple to follow reply. I've followed the first step method (after getting Channel 4 listed twice in Digiguide). I changed the second listing for Channel 4 as directed so now if I want a top quality Channel 4 recording - they do exist I just use right click on the program from the correct "channel" and go about recording the usual way. I've also found an ATI icon which I renamed dabdig03.ico and overwrote the Dabdig original with - now programs I want to record in Digiguide have a nice ATI icon on the listing rather than that green/blue thing - sorry to sound so harsh but I have no idea what it is.... Thanks again for the easy to understand help

Glad it worked. Re the icons - no problem with you replacing them. In fact - you'll find a few alternatives from me for those with multiple devices (a radio, TV and satellite icon - each in red and green). The original icon is my representation of a Psion Wavefinder. This is what I originally wrote DABDig for (DAB - Digital Audio Broadcasting. The Psion Wavefinder was the first widely available PC-based example of this). It really has a set of LEDs inside it that change colour. Hello. Have one problem with my ATI MMC.When I am recording direct from TV-app.I can get output res. 720*576. And when I config ATi MMC scheduler manually I get 720*576, but when I use DABDig max is 704*576. When I set ATIMMCQUALITY=1 output is : 704*576 ATIMMCQUALITY=2 output is : 325*576 ATIMMCQUALITY=3 output is : 352*288 ATIMMCQUALITY=4 output is : 704*576 (ATi MMC scheduler says no information about output res.with nr.4 if I check) What shall I put in ATIMMCQUALITY to get 720*576 I have ATI MMC 9.03.This is my only problem, else I really like the program

Try a setting of 0 If it doesn't work then drop me a note and I'll reply with some extra diagnostic test info. Paul Webster DABDig creator

Hello again. I had tried 0 before I post last message with 704 as result, but now I took a restart and it is 720.Perfect. Thank you. P.S. Is there a way that ATi MMC scheduler can start recording minimized? OK when playing games.

Mail me direct and I'll send you a test version that gives you control over the Window type that I request when I restart the scheduler. (I checked the code and I do try to start it minimised already - anyway ... I have made a version that allows you to configure this so you can play yourself) (do start a new thread if you think of anything extra - more chance that other people will spot what they are looking for if the subject matches) Paul Webster DABDig creator Edited by Paul Webster on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 1:39:54 AM |
